I love flannels, anytime of year.
I even wear them in the Texas heat.. it's that kind of love.
However, everyone knows the most appropriate time to pull out your cozy flannels is in the fall. They keep you warm when the air gets cool and crisp, but not so warm that you can't layer them with your favorite cardigan. I'm going to link a couple of my favorite flannels below, and as promised I styled the two I'm wearing a couple different ways.

I'm going to keep this post short and sweet, but I promise I'll do a more rambly post on Wednesday. I'm super busy this weekend, and I'm currently rotating SIX batches of cookies in and out of my oven! One of my best friends is hosting a Kendra Scott party & She asked if I could make some cookies for the event. Y'all know I LOVE to bake cookies, it relaxes me!

My Southern Readers, I know it will not be "Fall" for a couple of months. Trust and believe- I was very aware of the heat while shooting for this post, it was rough y'all!
However, Fall is right around the corner and now is the time to pounce on closet staples for your fall wardrobe. Around this time of year is when retail really makes the switch from summer to fall (regardless of the current heat index) and trust me, you're going to want to jump on these closet staples while you can. Once it gets colder your options get a little more limited because everyone is already out on the prowl or have already snatched up the items you want months ago.

As promised, for this post I styled one core outfit a couple different ways. This is accomplished by simply swapping out accessories or making a tiny change that has a big effect. For example, maybe pairing the outfit with a different jacket. The three I have shown here are STAPLES. In my opinion, everyone needs to own a camo jacket, a lightweight utility jacket, and a jean jacket.  All three jacket styles can be styled numerous ways & can really spice up a very plain outfit.
I also think you should start looking to purchase a good pair of neutral booties for the fall (and winter). I love the cut out detail of these booties, which make the summer heat + booties
a little more bearable. While we are on the topic of shoes, go on and grab you a cute pair of neutral flats. The pair i'm wearing are SO comfortable! The material is soft and the sole is super padded!

I think it's important to stock your closet with versatile items of clothing that can be styled multiple ways.  If I can't think of a couple ways to wear an item of clothing when i'm out shopping then I won't purchase said item. Plain and simple.
I know a lot of bloggers like to style 5 different outfits ONE WAY 5 times a week, but I just can't do that. I don't think thats practical or attainable for everyone. I wish more bloggers would show their readers multiple different ways to wear items that they are featuring on their blog.

With that being said, the next couple of weeks I'm really going to push myself to style outfits for posts multiple ways, in hopes that it gives you all a little inspiration when going through your closets. I will be doing a lot of fall-forward posts these next couple of weeks, but they will be posts with more content than my usual posts. I want you all to leave my blog realizing that the items in your closet can be worn hundreds of ways and I want you to feel good about rocking your clothes multiple different ways! So without further a due, I want to get into this post!

I wore this romper for a surprise Birthday Party over the weekend and I couldn't wait to style it again!
This romper has the cutest print and it's going to be a great piece to transition. I could easily pair this with some black tights, boots, and a leather jacket when it get's a little chillier outside! For this post I wanted to show you how to dress this romper up and also how to keep it more simple.

| My top is from Madewell here, similar here (almost identical!) & I just ordered this | My jeans are the softest jeans ever, found here. If you're in between sizes, size down. They have some stretch to them | My boots found here & here | My cross necklace found here & layered necklace found here |

HI Y'ALL!!
So sorry i've been MIA this last week! One of my biggest goals for this blog is to be consistent, so trust me- not posting this week KILLED ME! I missed blogging!
Anyway, my next couple of posts are going to be based on items that I feel you need in your closet this fall. They are going to be items I think you should snatch up now (even though it's hot outside) because these things are staples that get snatched up before pumpkin spice anything shows up!
Fun Fact, I've never had a pumpkin spice latte! I love pumpkin pie, but thats about it. I don't go ga-ga over pumpkin candles or anything... weird, I know.
However, I DO go ga-ga over fall trends such as riding boots, big chunky scarves, and comfy sweaters!
So let's just get into the post and check back next week... I'll be coming in hot with the new posts!

(For my girls who don't wear wedges/heels- this dress looks so cute with sandals)

Off The Shoulder Dress, similar here & here | Crossbody bag here |
| MY earrings found here the color is "Chalcedony" |
| Nude wedges found here, (currently 50% off) |

Fun Fact, my favorite color is yellow!
I've always loved yellow, it just seems like the happiest color.
Anyway, this little off the shoulder dress is so comfortable and lightweight. The best part about this dress is it doesn't slide up as your wearing it. Other off the shoulder dresses will creep up and off my shoulders and it makes them so annoying to wear. This dress however stays perfectly in place at all times. It is fully lined and the material is so soft, it really is effortless to wear.
I would say that it runs a little big, so maybe size down? I ordered my true size and I thought it was a little roomy. I like roomy clothing (especially because it's so hot in Tejas) so the sizing didn't bother me at all! Lastly, this dress is almost half-off right now and still available in all sizes! I've started to prep blog posts for fall but it's not going to be cooling down in Texas for a while, so jump on it!
I will be getting some good "what to buy for fall before everyone else snatches it up" posts soon, so be on the look out!

Peplum Top I'm wearing a sm | My jeans found here, they are stretchy |
| My lip color (I'm obsessed with purple tone lips) found here in shade "Requiem" |

You need this cute little peplum in yo life! It accentuates all the good and hides the bad. I think peplums can be tricky, but this one is a no fuss must. I am not one to dry clean forever 21 items, but this baby will be getting dry cleaned, because I want to keep her around for awhile! I do not think dry cleaning is necessary, I'm just obsessed with this top and I want to treat it right. I also want to talk about my sunnies, which are a total STEAL. I've been eye'n (see what I did there) a similar pair of Prada sunglasses for awhile now, but I just couldn't justify spending that much on glasses that I would not properly take care of. I'm the girl who chunks her sunglasses in her purse unprotected and then paws at the bottom of the black hole that is my purse to find them. I can't have nice things y'all! Needless to say when I saw these back in stock I had to have them.

We are taking our little chunk Yorkie to the vet today for her annual check up and I have to admit I'm a tad bit nervous. The entire office has a bet on her, they think the vet is going to tell me she's overweight. I try to explain to them that she's not over weight, she's loved.
They just don't get it.
I just can't say no when she looks at me with those eyes and silently begs for treats.
SHE'S JUST SO CUTE!
Wish us luck & let's hope for a forgiving scale.

|My exact button down (I'm wearing a size M)| I also love this button down | For cardigans I love this in grey, this in taupe, and this one in every color
 | Obsessed with these booties, these, and,
this style always sells like hotcakes! |
| I also wanted to mention I ordered this jacket in sandshell |

It's not going to cool down in Texas for a hot minute! However, around this time I start to shop for all my fall transition pieces. I can not shop for one season in bulk, I like to slowly accumulate my wardrobe. (This is probably why I have a problem, ha-ha) but if you think logically about it- this is the best time of year to start shopping.
You have big sales like the N-sale and a lot of retailers start their back to school promotions.
Not to mention, this coming weekend is Tax Free weekend for Texas!
With all of that being said, it's important to shop smart. You want to focus on items that are "transitional" and can be worn during the warmer months and also during the cooler months. I look for button downs, light weight cardigans, and boots!
Button downs are great because you can easily get away with wearing them with shorts. The one I'm wearing is especially great because it's light weight, but still really good quality.
I also loving snatching up cute cardigans around this time, they're great for movie dates in the summer time, and a staple for fall.
Lastly, boots. I can not get enough. If you've had your eye on a cute pair- get them now. They will sell out and they will not come back. I do not know how many times I've waited too long to pull the trigger on a cute pair of fall booties! It's the worst!
Think about how much you're going to wear these booties, invest in them. If you're anything like me, you'll wear a hole in them before the season is over. The boots I'm wearing are from last year and you better believe I'm ordering them in beige this year!
I will be linking a ton of cute stuff that I think are great transitional pieces above, get on it girl!
