When it comes to investing in my wardrobe I always prioritize denim.
Trendy pieces come and go, but you'll never get rid of your favorite jeans.

The idea to write this post came to me a few weeks ago when a friend asked me to point her in the right direction when shopping for a great pair of jeans. Immediately I started looking through my closet to find which brands were most predominate? Which jeans do I feel best in? Most importantly, which brands are worth the money and withstand the test of time? After a few minutes of some true closet-soul-searching, I replied with a lengthy text listing off the pros and cons my favorite brands.

If I'm being honest, jeans are my thing, and I truly believe you get what you pay for when it comes to denim. I've tried dozens of different brands, and I've discovered my favorites simply by trial and error.

Before I dig deep into my favorite brands, I think it's important every woman understand their denim style. Do you prefer a dark or light wash? What style fits your body type best? Personally, I love a distressed, mid-wash boyfriend jean. However, it's best to have a well-rounded selection of denim in your wardrobe. Even if you stick to one style, you might diversify your denim with different washes. If you're unsure, I love this guideline for finding the right fit for your figure.

In an effort to keep this post concise and helpful, I narrowed it down to my top 4 favorites.

My Top Two High-End Brands
MOTHER Denim
My holy-grail, come to mama, ride or die denim brand.
In all seriousness, this is the brand you'll find most predominately in my wardrobe. When I'm on the hunt for a new pair of jeans, I always start with MOTHER. Every pair I own fits me perfectly, wears comfortably and holds its shape. I've worked long shifts in these jeans, ran errands in these jeans and even napped in these jeans. The oldest pair in my closet I've owned for nearly 3 years and they still look and fit perfectly.
MOTHER denim is manufactured in the United States and is known for its super-soft fabrics that comfortably stretch, without sacrificing the integrity of the jeans. The waistband on this denim is sewn in, not stitched, like other brands on the market. I love the pocket placement on these jeans, as it's slightly higher than a traditional style, giving the illusion of a rounder butt. Seriously, these jeans make your backside look phenomenal. Most importantly, this brand offers a wide range of cuts and washes, catering to every body type and personality. The average price for a pair of MOTHER jeans falls in the $180-$250 range. You can shop MOTHER denim at most major retail stores and online. I personally like to shop for this brand at Nordstrom and Nordstrom Rack. In regards to sizing, for me, this denim runs true to size, but always check the size guidelines or reviews if you're unsure.

Citizens of Humanity
Citizens of Humanity is known for producing the best fits, fabrics, and finishes in the industry. Impressively, each pair of COH jeans are handmade and manufactured in the United States.
COH was one of my first premium denim purchases. I remember nearly fainting when I saw the $250 price tag, but after wearing them for months... I was hooked. The longevity and quality of these jeans are a few reasons I chose to include them in this post. In addition to quality, COH offers an extensive range of fits and washes. I find that these jeans are a bit heavier than some of my other jeans, however the weight gives these jeans a true "premium" feel and contributes to the durability.
My favorite jean from this brand (the pair I'm wearing in the photos above) is the Dree Crop (more sizes here in a different wash) They're the perfect pair of cropped high- rise jeans with a "worn in" vintage feel to them. I would suggest you size up in these, they're 100% cotton, so there's not much stretch to these!

My Top Two Low-End Brands
BLANKNYC
I've been a big fan of this brand for a couple of years now. My first purchase from this brand was the Good Vibes Skinny, which are actually included in the pictures above. With an average price of around $80, I love that this brand offers a high quality alternative to premium denim. In addition to being budget friendly, BLANKNYC offers a comprehensive selection of denim both trendy and classic. My only suggestion when shopping this brand online would be to pay attention to the size guidelines, as I have found the sizing of these jeans vary. You can find BLANKNYC online or in-store at Nordstrom and Nordstrom Rack.

Treasure and Bond
If I'm being honest, what I love most about this brand is its commitment to give back to the community. Specifically, 5% of all sales are donated directly to youth organizations, awesome right? I own a couple pair of Treasure and Bond Jeans and I can say I'm always impressed with the fit and feel of these jeans. I recently purchased these (in-store) and I can't stop wearing them. The price range for T&B ranges from $40-$80, sizing runs true to size and I always feel confident shopping this brand online. Treasure and bond produces great, wearable jeans at an affordable price point. What more could a gal ask for?

As always, I linked what I'm wearing and some jeans I own from these brands below.
I hope this post was helpful and thanks for reading!

I promise I'm working on fixing the layout of my blog!
The current layout does not feature widgets on my home page, which makes it difficult for you to quickly access this feature, arg!
As a temporary fix, I wanted to quickly dedicate a post to an updated "As Seen on Snapchat" widget!

I added items you've seen on my snapchat and current on sale-pieces you'll want to snag! I also included some of my recent purchases that you haven't yet seen on my snapchat, as they are currently on major sale! I would highly recommend snagging the Hinge booties ($44), The Girlfriend Denim (BOGO $19.90) and the Lush Shift Dress ($46).
Oh, and my favorite Merona tee ($8)!

Lastly, I included some beauty finds, pre-order items and a dress that I plan on wearing this weekend to a Labor Day party. The dress is marked down and selling fast, so I wanted to include it before it's sold out!

Whew!
I thought this was going to be a quick and easy post, but things escalated quickly!

Every year our family packs up and heads down to Port Aransas for three days. I must admit, even though I'm terrified of the ocean, the annual beach trip is something I look forward to. I love watching my niece and nephew splash around, build sand castles and spray un-expecting family members with water guns. I don't care what anyone says, turkey and cheese sandwiches taste better on the beach, and the sunburns are always worth it. (I swear we routinely coat ourselves in SPF 70+ yet somehow always manage to sunburn.)

For those of you wondering, we rented this house at Cinnamon Shores. We typically stay here every year and the one year we didn't, we regretted it.  I highly recommend this beachfront community, as it is family friendly with a great on-site restaurant, lots of amenities and the rentals are beautiful!

I'm really wishing I could be back on the beach with a drink in my hand, but back to reality it is! I updated the sidebar widgets, but I'll also link down below. For size reference, I'm wearing an XS in the black off the shoulder top. I would suggest you definitely size up in the Levi's shorts, however the one-piece swimsuit runs TTS. I also linked my new straightener for those of you asking what I used to style my hair. I love it more than any straightener I've owned in the past! I love it so much that I'm considering adding the matching blow dryer to my Christmas list!

At this point I think it's safe to say, EVERYONE knows about the Nordstrom Anniversary Sale. The sale has taken over everyones inbox and Instagram feed. I won't go into the details of the sale or why you should shop it because, lets not kick a dead horse, but if you're interested in my purchases I linked them below! I also linked items that I purchased in the past that are currently part of the sale (Neulash and the Kristin Cavaliri slide on Mules).
I'm off to start my weekend a little early, so
Cheers to good sales and long weekends!

Nine | Ten (in white)| Eleven | Twelve

First and foremost, I'VE MISSED YOU! I haven't had much downtime lately, but this morning I had nothing on my to do list (for once) and decided to share what's on my wish lists!

I make lists all the time. I have numerous lists saved on my phone. Everything from wines to try, makeup I'm interested in, places I'd like to travel, etc. What I like most about making lists is they help me differitiate between impulse buys and items that I truly want. I will sit on my phone for hours  perusing stores online. Do you know how many cute items a girl can add to her wish list after browsing the net for HOURS? Today I went back through those lists and narrowed down items that I truly want.

1. We're going on our annual family beach trip in a couple weeks and I'm a sucker for organization. This drawstring cosmetic travel bag popped up while I was browsing Pinterest and I was instantly intrigued. I like the idea of not having to use gallon size ziplock bags to store my shampoo, conditioner, lotion ect.

2. I never thought I'd say this, but lately I've enjoyed going to the gym. I'm on the hunt for accessories that make trips to the gym easier, lighter and more organized. I absolutely have to listen to music when I work out, but I find that my apple headphones are tangly and restricting... #annoying.  If you have any products that you love for the gym, please leave those suggestions in the comments!

3. As you all know, I've gone a little lighter for summer. However, my hair and skin are naturally super dry, so lighter for me means even drier. Everyone raves about this hair oil and it gets really good reviews. I think it's about time I pull the trigger and order it. My hair will thank me later.

4. This product has been on my list forever! I've been told it's an exact dupe for the Tatcha Luminous Dewy Skin Mist, which retails for $48. You can find the Pixi Glow Mist at target for $15 bucks.

5. Y'ALL. I was in Sephora a couple weeks ago getting a sample of a BECCA foundation (product #7!) and the sales associate was so attentive! She zipped around the store showing me different products that would be great for my dry skin and making me samples. She applied the Perricone MD Firming Foam Mask on my hand and I was blown away! It's was one of those products I couldn't stop thinking or talking about. The mask was lightweight with a slight cooling sensation, when she removed it my skin felt hydrated, soft, and glowy! *Clicks add to cart*

11. Mother Denim has become my tried and true favorite brand of denim. I own FOUR pair from this brand and I swear by them. They are pretty pricy, but I believe you should always invest in denim and shoes. A good pair of jeans are not only flattering, but will last you forever. I love the raw edges and faded look of these. They are trendy, yet have that worn in with character appeal.

12. I've seen quite a few bloggers and friends wearing the cutest utility-style rompers, and since have been on the hunt for one for myself. I love the versatility and simplicity of utility rompers, not to mention I bet they're so comfortable! This one caught my eye and has been on my wish list ever since!

What's on your wish lists!?

We decided to get out of town and head west for my Birthday. This trip was one of the best trips we've ever taken and one of the best birthdays I've ever had. In true Bravenec style, we did not plan ahead, however we managed to see just about everything West Texas had to offer.

MARFA
Where We Stayed
We stayed in at El Cosmico in a Airstream trailer, it was incredible. The trailer had a kitchen, bedroom with a full size bed, indoor bathroom and an attached outdoor shower. Plenty of space to lounge and store your belongings. Although, I would suggest you bring an iron or steamer and a hairdryer. Additionally, it was really hot during the day, but cooled off quiet a bit at night. If you're wondering, I packed layers and a light jacket! The hotel has a main lobby where you can buy beer and a few snacks, however if you want to save some money I would suggest going to the local grocery store for drinks and such. The campsite was quiet and peaceful our entire trip and there were white tailed bunnies that roam around the campsite, it's beyond adorable.

I would highly recommend visiting the the Marfa Lights observatory, the pool at the Hotel St. George and driving out to see the Prada Exhibit.
I loved every bit of our stay in Marfa.

Where We Ate
Marfa Burrito, best breakfast burrito hands down.
Jetts Grill at the Hotel Paisano
Food Shark, get the Marfalafel!
For my birthday we had drinks and dinner at La Ventura located inside Hotel St. George. The NY Strip is massive. Trust me, you don't need an appetizer! The drinks were fun and the staff was wonderful.

ALPINE
We visited Big Bend Brewery. We shared a few beers and enjoyed a beer tasting. I really enjoyed the Tejas Clara lager! You can check out the brewery here:  http://www.bigbendbrewing.com
Next stop, Plaine Ice Cream + Coffee. Get the nitro brewed coffee, sounds extreme but it was amazing. I've actually craved it ever since!
There's not many restaurant options in Alpine, but El Patio had delicious enchiladas and speedy service!

BALMORHEA STATE PARK
Be prepared, the water was cold, but refreshing and there was an abundance of pupfish. The pupfish are harmless and kind of cute! The park has a concession stand and a place to change into your swimsuit!

BIG BEND
If you're wanting to camp in the Chisos Basin, you'll need to reserve your campsite at least 6 months in advance. The high demand for this campsite is understandable as the the basin is beautiful.
We decided to hike the Lost Mind Trail. It took us 4 hours to hike the entire trail, about two hours up and two hours down. I would suggest starting early in the morning; wear LOTS of sunblock, a hat, hiking boots and drink lots of water.

Bravenec surprised me with a three hour horseback ride at Big Bend Stables. I rode a horse named Luna, She was the sweetest horse. Bravenec rode Sleepy-Joe, the most laid-back horse to ever exist. I loved every second of our three hour ride and I will never forget this experience. The view from the trail was so pretty and we got to experience a completely different side of the park.

TERLINGUA & LAJITAS
There's not much to do in Terlingua, but you have to have a beer on the porch at the Starlight Theater. We stayed at Lajutas golf resort http://www.lajitasgolfresort.com. The resort itself was really pretty and the golf course looked immaculate. If we had stayed a second night I know Bravenec would have played a round.

Happy Monday Friends!
I hope you are all well and ready to take on this week.
I'm excited to bring my very first video tutorial to the blog today! I was such a nervous mess recording this, but a hair tutorial for my everyday waves is the number one request I get on snapchat! I hope that this video is helpful for all my girls trying to achieve a lived-in wave hairstyle. I love how effortless, yet versatile this hair style is. I leave it down day one, day two it's usually up in a half-up-half-down top knot and day three I usually incorporate some type of side braid!

As always, please leave any comments or questions down below!
